Newmarket Celtic FC History

Since 1968, Newmarket Celtic FC has been at the heart of the local community. Located in the village of Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, the club has two full-size pitches and has also added a modern Astro-Turf training pitch to provide year-round opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

Newmarket Celtic FC has produced talented players over the years, including:

  • Eoin Hayes
  • Stephen Kelly

Both were named FAI Amateur Player of the Year while representing Ireland at amateur level. 

Historic Triumphs & Recognition

In the last decade, Newmarket Celtic FC has established itself as a strong club, lifting eight league titles and nine Clare Cups. Newmarket Celtic football club became the first Clare club to win the Munster Champions Cup.

  • Newmarket Celtic FC won the FAI Junior Cup for the first time during the 2022/23 season in a dramatic final against St. Michael’s AFC. 
  • 2023 – The club also received the prestigious FAI Club Mark Award.
  • 2024 – Won the Clare Cup for the 20th time.
  • 2024 – Clare County Council hosted a Civic Reception to honour the outstanding performances of the senior men’s team.
