Portumna Town FC – Club History & Identity

Portumna Town FC was founded in 2006 to provide organised football for Portumna and its surrounding areas, building from the grassroots up. The club participates in the Midlands Schoolboy League and has expanded over time to include senior, juvenile, and youth teams.

While not as old as some historic clubs, Portumna Town FC carries immense local community spirit and pride. The town itself is better known for its GAA and hurling traditions—Portumna GAA, founded in 1888, has won multiple All-Ireland club hurling titles. The football club thus represents a newer but dynamic footballing branch in a town rich with sporting heritage.
