Swords Celtic History

Swords Celtic Football Club, based in Swords, County Dublin, was established in 1962. The club includes a variety of teams, from junior girls and junior boys to senior teams. 

The club’s home ground is located at Balheary Road, Newtown Cottages, Swords, beside the scenic Balheary Reservoir. The facility has long served as a hub for football in the area, and recent investment through the Sports Capital Grant Programme has provided funding for performance equipment and clubhouse refurbishments.

In 2025, Swords Celtic became Guinness World Record Holders for the most players participating in a 7-a-side exhibition match.

Swords Celtic Football Club Teams

  • Young Celts Academy: Swords Celtic FC help the youngest players (ages 4-7) start playing football with other children their age. 
  • Junior Section: For ages 8-17, all players are welcome with teams for all skill levels. 
  • Senior Section: The football club also has adult teams for players aged 18+.
  • Football For All Programme: This programme caters for players from all groups and sporting bodies with a disability that want to play football.
