UCD Marian Basketball Club History

UCD Marian Basketball Club was founded in 1968 and serves the South Dublin community.

The basketball club was originally formed by pupils and past pupils of Marian College, Ballsbridge, who entered a team into the Dublin Minor Basketball League.

A major step forward came when Marian College merged with University College Dublin’s men’s basketball team, giving rise to the club as it is known today: UCD Marian.

UCD Marian Basketball Teams & Home Grounds

The club has a range of teams, starting from its youth academy and Under-11 groups right through to its Over-40s section. The Men’s Basketball Club features multiple squads, including two teams competing in the Dublin Leagues, one representing the club in the Super League, and another participating in both the U20 National Cup and intervarsity tournaments.

The team plays in their signature yellow and blue kit, with home games at the UCD Sports Centre in Belfield. The modern facility serves as a hub for the Super League side and a community training venue for the UCD Marian academy and weekly basketball socials.
