Naas AFC History

Since its foundation in 1990 Naas AFC has grown into one of the largest football clubs in County Kildare with over 1,000 members across schoolboy and schoolgirl football. The club quickly built a reputation for success in the Kildare and District Football League and has continued to develop strong teams at both adult and underage level.

The club’s history is rooted in local football tradition, with the merger of Naas United and Naas Rovers creating a single club with the resources and community support to thrive. Naas AFC has since established itself as a central part of football in the town and a hub for players of all ages.

Naas AFC achieved FAI Club Mark Entry Level Certification in 2025, demonstrating strong club governance, coach education and youth development standards.

The club fields numerous teams in the Kildare District Underage League (KDUL)

Underage honours in the 2023-2024 season include:

  • U12 Premier — League Champions
  • U12 Major 1 — League Champions
  • U13 Premier — League & Cup Winners
  • U16 Premier — Cup Winners

Inclusive Culture and Youth Pathways

Naas AFC places a strong emphasis on inclusivity and development. The club runs a large academy structure with boys and girls teams from under-7s upward. Young players are given opportunities to train, learn new skills and compete in local leagues.

Senior and junior squads continue to compete in regional competitions while the youth teams have recorded league and cup successes that highlight the strength of the pathway system.

Supported by the community and powered by volunteers, Naas AFC provides football opportunities for all. The blue and white colours remain a symbol of pride for players and supporters throughout Kildare.
